Khelenge hum jitegā Bhārat
Bhāratīya Khel is an initiative of the Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) Division of the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The Hon’ble Education Minister Sh. Dharmendra Pradhan along with Hon’ble Home Minister Sh. Amit Shah launched an initiative called 75 Bhāratīya Games/Khel in schools, on 29th July, 2022, to commemorate the second anniversary of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

Since ancient times, Bhārata, one of the world’s oldest continuously living civilisations, has evolved some of the most captivating games to keep individuals and communities creatively entertained. The rich traditions of Bhāratīya Khel consisting of hundreds of indoor and outdoor fun activities capture the geographical diversity of the different regions, and incorporates features of their naturescapes, their philosophy, culture and the mindset of their people. The standardisation of selected games in the education system has resulted in the forgetting of some of the simpler ones that were played by our ancestors that helped them learn how to be swift, strategise and outsmart opponents skilfully in the game on the ground as well as in life. Through this initiative we seek to bring simple and easy to play games to every household in the country through the education system with the support of Physical Education Teachers as well as through different organisations that encourage and promote games as part of their activities.
The Programme
The Programme will introduce 75 Bhāratīya Games. A designated teacher from each school will register for the programme and be trained by IKS Experts. This teacher will learn and teach the games in the Schools / Colleges / Organisations and then create a promotional video for the game that will be submitted on the Bhāratīya Khel website as part of the National Competition for each game. Judges will view and rate the submissions and announce the results on this website.
