Murga Jhapat, most popular In Uttarakhand. Pithoragarh, Bageshwar and Almora. comprises two teams of six players each.
One player each of both teams will enter a big circle. Each player will stand on one leg and without using his hand he will have to push the player from rival team out of the circle, by using his body force. To play this game, one has to keep right hand of left shoulder and then catch the left toe with left hand.
Cockfight is a popular recreational activity in rural areas. One circle is marked on the ground, diameter of the circle is depend on the number of players participated in this activity. The circle and take their position by folding one leg behind lhis hip joint with help of lhand and another hand flexed by keeping arm on lhis opposite shoulder. After completing the position they will ask to push each others with help of shoulder. Each player tries best to drive away the other player from the circle. At last one player who could remain in the circle,will be declared winner.
Materials required: Some flour r or limestone to make a boundary.
This game is played by two children preferably boys, in the age group of 6-8 year and above. Both the players of same height preferably. To play this game a boundary approximately of two meters distance has to make using lime stone or flour or can be drawn in the ground with the help of a stick.
The players takes position inside the circle. The right leg of each child needs to be folded at knee fold and the ankle of the leg has to be hold with the help of right hand. Both the children have to hold their right shoulder with their left hand. In some places, children hold the right hand with their left hand from backside.
Now the players have to stand on their left legs and need to balance their body from falling. Once they are ready with their positions, the game starts.
As soon as the whistle blows the game starts, both the players come closer and try to push each other with their folded left arm and body as well. By using their tactics, each one of them has to try to push the other one out of the boundary or make him fall by disturbing his body balance.
If any player changes his body position during the game will be out of the game.
If the player goes out of the circle in the struggle , he will be declared out.
The player who can push the other one out of the boundary or make him fall or make him to change the body positions will be the winner.
