A unique game played with a wooden ball and a wooden strip instead of the typical gilli (stick) and danda (bat). This variation is a fascinating traditional game with regional adaptations in South India and other parts of India. Here’s how such a game might be played
A small, smooth wooden ball about the size of a table tennis ball.
A flat, narrow piece of wood, similar to a bat, used to hit the ball.
Objective:
To hit the wooden ball as far as possible, score runs, or achieve specific targets depending on the variation of the game.
Mark a playing area, usually an open field or ground.
Draw a small circle or a base where the hitter stands.
Single Player Variation:
Distance-based: Points are awarded based on predefined zones (e.g., 1 point for 10 feet, 2 points for 20 feet).
Run-based: The batter runs to a marked spot and back while the fielding team retrieves the ball.
The player or team with the most points or runs at the end of a set number of rounds wins.
Skills Required:
Coordination: Proper aim and timing to hit the ball effectively.
Strength: To strike the ball far.
Strategy: Smart placement of the ball to avoid fielders.
